Development is a leading primary research journal covering the field of developmental biology. With its long and prestigious history and its team of expert academic editors led by James Briscoe, Development is committed to publishing cutting-edge research across the spectrum of animal and plant developmental biology. Over recent years, Development has expanded its focus to incorporate the stem cell and regeneration fields, with the aim of underscoring the close links between these growing communities and more traditional developmental biology.

We create tools that help institutions collect and analyze information; strengthen capacity to use data; and explore what incentives, structures, and processes are needed to enable evidence-based decisions. Our work spans technical assessments, agile tool development, capacity strengthening, facilitating learnings, and fostering long-term stakeholder relationships.

Sustainable and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic that promotes the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development: building an inclusive and effective path for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda in the context of the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development.


The meeting of the high-level political forum on sustainable development in 2017 convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council, was held from Monday, 10 July, to Wednesday, 19 July 2017; including the three-day ministerial meeting of the forum from Monday, 17 July, to Wednesday, 19 July 2017.


Many ideas also emerged on how the HLPF could organize its work after 2016, and deliver on its mandates to review SDGs progress; promote implementation of the post-2015 development agenda and conferences on SIDS and other special situation countries; address new and emerging issues and strengthen the science policy interface.


The high-level political forum on sustainable development convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council met when the sustainable development goals and the options for a financing strategy for sustainable development were being formulated. The outcomes of those two processes are expected to form central elements of the post-2015 development agenda soon to be negotiated.


The Skills Development Fund (SDF) is Texas' premier upskilling program. SDF grants provide site-specific, customized training opportunities for Texas businesses and their employees to increase skill levels and wages of the Texas workforce. Success comes through collaboration among economic development partners, business partners, and eligible grant applicants, which include public community or technical colleges, the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), community-based organizations in partnership with one of these entities, or a local Workforce Development Board.


This program supports projects at all stages of development, from early planning and stand-alone studies to advanced implementation. Research and Development projects contribute to the evolving and expanding body of knowledge for heritage practitioners, and for that reason, outcomes may take many forms. Projects may produce any combination of laboratory datasets, guidelines for standards, open access software tools, workflow and equipment specifications, widely used metadata schema, or other products.


The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program supports community development activities to build stronger and more resilient communities. To support community development, activities are identified through an ongoing process. Activities may address needs such as infrastructure, economic development projects, public facilities installation, community centers, housing rehabilitation, public services, clearance/acquisition, microenterprise assistance, code enforcement, homeowner assistance, etc.


Offering alternative perspectives on civil society, development policy and community based strategies for livelihoods, gender and social justice, Development provides readers with sharp, critical views and in-depth analysis on the challenging issues of today's rapidly changing world.

Articles published in the journal take on the most complex and urgent issues of today, listening to opposing voices and welcoming innovative, local perspectives from the margins to the center of global development discourse. The ADF contributes to poverty reduction and economic and social development in the least developed African countries by providing concessional funding for projects and programs, as well as technical assistance for studies and capacity-building activities.


To support either a mentored or independent investigator to develop or enhance curricula, foster academic career development of promising young teacher-investigators, and to strengthen existing teaching programs.


To provide support for newly trained clinicians appointed by an institution for development of independent research skills and experience in a fundamental science within the framework of an interdisciplinary research and development program.


To provide support for the career development of clinically trained professionals who have made a commitment to patient-oriented research, and who have the potential to develop into productive, clinical investigators.


To support the career development of investigators with quantitative scientific and engineering backgrounds outside of biology or medicine who have made a commitment to focus their research endeavors on basic or clinical biomedical research.
